Pair Washington, DC Presentation Julep Cups

Rare, interesting and attractive cups with the mark of Robert Keyworth [working in DC in the 1830’s] which has been deliberately obliterated and then marked “S. Lewis” for Samuel Lewis, who worked in DC in the 1840’s. One cup is engraved “Presented to Mr. Bell, by his friend Mrs. Hunter, Dec. 25, 1859” and the other is engraved simply “Dec. 25, 1858”

weights 4.75 and 5.1 troy ounces.   There is some very slight separation of the upper rims.
