Virginia Ladder-back Armchair

Virginia Ladder-back Armchair

This substantial and comfortable chair was found in an old house near Thornburg many years ago. We have handled enough local ladder-backs over the years to feel confident that it was made somewhere close by. As with most of these it is a mixture of woods. The arms are walnut, I believe the posts are maple, some of the rails are oak and I never really know what the slats are. The seat is not original, but is the sort of split oak seat that it would have had.
