Trinity Church, Wall Street, Silver Card Case

A fine American embossed silver card case depicting Trinity Episcopal Church at the west end of Wall Street in lower Manhattan. It is an impressive Gothic Revival building designed by Richard Upjohn and completed in 1846. It is the third church on the site and is surrounded by a much earlier cemetery where the graves of Alexander Hamilton, Capt. James Lawrence, Gen. Horatio Gates, and many other important New Yorkers can be found.

Card cases of this style are most often attributed to Leonard & Wilson of Philadelphia, though this one seems a bit more finely finished than the other L&W example we have seen. It is unmarked.
