This massive book, easily the largest and heaviest volume in almost any Virginiana library is titled Virginia Historical Portraiture, 1585-1830. It is actually a catalog to accompany an extraordinary exhibition of 200 important portraits displayed at Virginia House in Richmond in 1930. This is copy number 803 of the edition of 1,000. The original gilt embossed brown leather binding shows some moderate wear and a bit of chipping at the top of the spine.
