The Card Game, Pastel on Paper, Nancy Lancaster, Scaisbrooke Langhorne Abbot

A large and delightful pastel on fine art paper by Lynchburg, Virginia artist Scaisbrooke Langhorne Abbot. It is illustrated in the 2016 book on the artist where the sitters are identified as “Nancy Lancaster, Lord and Lady Dunraven, and an unidentified gentleman” Nancy Lancaster, the famous decorator known for the English country house look was born at Mirador, west of Charlottesville. This pastel is from the private collection of Vernon Edenfield, the former director of Kenmore, Fredericksburg’s most significant house museum.
