Southern Yellow Pine Huntboard [Slab], Georgia

Southern Yellow Pine Huntboard [Slab], Georgia

I much prefer the name “huntboard” which has been used for these tall southern country serving pieces for generations, over the term “slab” the currently in vogue name amongst furniture scholars. Whatever it is called this is an uncommon and attractive piece from the deep South. It has been refinished, probably 40 or 50 years ago, but is otherwise remarkably well preserved with its original tongue and groove jointed two board top and likely original pine drawer pulls.
