Rare and Impressive Pair of Louis XV Silver Sauce Boats

A beautiful pair of pre-revolutionary Paris silver sauce boats of great quality and weight. Fully hallmarked. They were made in 1727 or 1728 by Louis Lenoir who registered his mark in 1724 and had a workshop in Rue Montorgueil. They each weigh approximately 15 troy ounces. The engraved arms are for an Italian family, Pignatelli, which may help explain why they survived the revolution. The remained with the family until purchased by us.
