New England Tiger Maple Desk

New England Tiger Maple Desk

A beautiful, well preserved and very usable early American desk. The very strongly grained tiger maple makes this an exceptional piece. The maker even thought to include a space for a large laptop [he may have been thinking of a ledger]. Obviously intended as a working desk, the top drawer if fitted with a complex arrangement of spaces for documents. All original except the brasses. It remained in the family of the original owner until acquired by us.

New England, likely Massachusetts, 1790 c.H: 41"W: 39"D: 18 or 30.5"
