Magnificent Georgian Sterling Tea and Sugar Caddies

This very fine London Sterling set of two tea caddies and a matching sugar box was made by Daniel Smith and Robert Sharp. The Antique Collectors Club edition of Jackson’s hallmarks includes the comment; “Important makers. Made some of the finest silver of the period” by the listing for Smith & Sharp. These caddies prove that the praise is justified. The design and workmanship is superb, as is their condition. Each one is engraved with an elaborate crest that we have yet to positively identify.

Colonial Williamsburg owns a later coffee pot by the same makers.

Individuals they weigh 7.4, 8.5 and 7.4 troy ounces.

Fully hallmarked on bases and covers
