Madame Du Barry, after Augustin Pajou

A large white porcelain bust of Madame Du Barry, [Marie-Jeanne Becu] the last mistress of Louis XV. The original marble by famed French sculptor Augustin Pajou was created in 1773 and is now in the Louvre. This French white porcelain, part biscuit and part glazed, is most likely late 19th century. The sitter’s identity is impressed and inscribed in the porcelain on the back.
