LaGrange, Lafayette Historic Blue Plate

An uncommon Lafayette commemorative made at the time of his return visit to America. This plate by Staffordshire potters E. Wood & Sons, with their mark of 1818 to 1840 was made at the time of his return visit to America in 1824. The stamped blue title on the back reads; “La Grange the Residence of the Marquis Lafayette” He would have preferred that it say General. The figures in the foreground are the General, his wife, and one daughter. Good deep blue and perfect condition.  10.25 inch diameter
