A rare pair of mid-nineteenth century solid blue jasper ware portrait plaques of John and Anne Flaxman together with a very rare early self portrait Wedgwood medallion of John Flaxman as a young man probably modeled between 1787 and 1794.
“Flaxman was one of the principal artists employed by Wedgwood, and later produced silverware designs for Rundell and Bridge. He was the Royal Academy’s first Professor of Sculpture”.
The larger medallions are six inches in diameter without the frames.
