An exceptionally well detailed Federal Mantle. It had been stored in a barn for decades and came to us with no useful provenance, but we suspect it originated in central Virginia. The woods are poplar and yellow pine. There is very little paint present so that none of the fine detail is obscured. There is a small molding missing at the left and the base molding on either upright, which should be made to complement the room baseboard. At some point early in its life there were doors attached to close the firebox and the turn button latches for those doors are still present.
The fireplace opening is 45″ H x 42.75″ W
