A very well made, beautiful, useful and uncommon knee hole dressing chest in a wonderful state of preservation. There is a retractable mirror, with its original brass hardware, built into the center at the rear. When raised the mirror can be adjusted to tilt. The center drawer is fitted for a wash basin and several bottles. The lower left drawer is fitted to hold a bidet and has folding legs for support when it was in use. In excellent condition with a mellow old, likely original, finish and 7 of 8 original brasses. [the 8th is a period match] Mahogany with white cedar secondary wood.
