Chinese Chippendale Vernacular Armchair

A prior owner of this walnut chair thought that it related to the products of the Monticello joinery. That could be, but I’m inclined to believe that the design relates more to Chinese Chippendale than to Louis XVI. Some of the construction details, the through tenons and quarter round vertical glue blocks, relate it to Philadelphia work. The small tenon visible where the arm joins the rear stile is not familiar and may be helpful in making a specific attribution. there is a little bit of simple line inlay just on the front face of the front legs.
