An impressive large photograph of the first Catholic cathedral in Charleston, South Carolina. The cathedral was consecrated in 1854, but unfortunately was destroyed by a devastating fire in December of 1861. This photo was once misidentified as Richmond after the war, but there is now a corrected inscription on the back which also makes the point that the fire was not war related.
Signed lower left “Brady”.
The image measures 10.25 x 12.6
