This fine quality chest is of a type that is frequently attributed to famed Boston cabinetmaker Isaac Vose. If it is not from his shop it was certainly made by a close competitor. The book matched veneers are as impressive as the cabinet work itself and the condition is excellent. I have included a number of interior detail photos as well as a photo of a monogram scratched inside the back board that may help in determining a specific attribution. Interestingly the drawer blades are numbered “5,6,7,8” which indicates that it started life as one of a pair.
