A truly magnificent set of British history, architecture and landscape. Published over a number of years starting with volume one in 1801 and continuing to volume 18 published in 1815 and then finally the unnumbered “introduction” in 1818. Every volume is loaded with full page engraved illustrations. There are hundreds in total. The “Introduction” volume has a fine folding map. Several of the volumes are bound as multiple books. [Volume 10 covers London and Middlesex in five books] The entire set is beautifully bound in brown leather with both blind and gilt tooling with raised spine bands and marbled edges and endpapers. All in miraculously well preserved condition. The text blocks are clean, tight and straight. A few of the front hinges show signs of cracking but are all firmly attached.
Requires approximately 4ft 6in of shelf space.
