A Rare Half Case Cellarette

A Rare Half Case Cellarette

This interesting mahogany cellarette is an unusually small size, being made for six bottles rather than the usual full dozen. We have yet to determine with certainty its origin. Cellarettes are most frequently considered southern and the turnings and moldings of this one have led us to think that it could be from the Richmond area, but the secondary wood has been identified as crabwood [Carapa guianensis] which raises the possibility of a Caribbean origin.

It is entirely original, only lacking its lock.
