Matthew Cluff, Norfolk, Va. Coin Silver Ladle

Matthew Cluff, Norfolk, Va. Coin Silver Ladle

This fine early Virginia coin silver ladle was made by Matthew Cluff, an Irish immigrant who worked in Norfolk from 1802 to 1816. He then went to Elizabeth City, North Carolina where he continued to work as a silversmith. We think, based on the style, that this is from his Norfolk period.

In fine condition with a period monogram.
