Batchelder’s Gettysburg Battle-field, 1863, Original Frame

Batchelder’s Gettysburg Battle-field, 1863, Original Frame

A rare original lithograph, the iconic period image of the battle of Gettysburg. The large bottom margin includes facsimile signatures of many participating officers as well as local leaders and academics who helped in the preparation of the map. In the center is a plan for the “Soldier’s National Cemetery” and below that is the printed endorsement of General Meade: “I am perfectly satisfied with the accuracy with which the topography is delineated and the position of the troops laid down”

The entire print is somewhat age toned and there is a bit of moisture damage in the sky and at the far right.

Please excuse my reflection in the glass in most of these photos.
